What To Do When Your Upline Doesn’t Want You To Build Online
A big concern we have gotten from people learning about our online recruiting methods through Attraction Marketing Formula has to do with their upline “judging” them for wanting to build a different way.
For example, I was Facebook messaging a girl the other day and she asked how she should deal with her upline, who are so entrenched in building the old school way. She was afraid they might be critical and/or disagree with her choosing to prospect and recruit online.
This is a position we empathize with, because our own upline once told us, to “stick to a proven system” after having built a small team offline – that we risked losing momentum by changing to an online strategy which was “unproven”…
The issue pretty much comes down to this…
Everyone wants to know what the “best way” to build their business is. As much as we’d like to say Attraction Marketing is the best way to build a network marketing business, we can’t. Your success doesn’t come down to whether or not you’re building online or offline. Plain and simple it comes down to YOU!
If your upline built his business a while ago and has had success using old school market recruiting methods, then as far as they are concerned, those methods are what work the best. Throughout their networking career, these are the methods they feel most comfortable using, most likely to great effect, because they’ve spent years mastering that skill set.
Now if you’re just starting your network marketing journey, you’re going to need to figure out which methods work best for YOU. If prospecting friends and family, holding home meetings, going to hotel meetings or prospecting strangers aint’ your thing, then building online might be a better avenue for you. (Whit and I still continue to build with offline methods, along with building online! Merging the two is where we’ve found success.)
When it comes to being confronted by your upline, don’t worry about it. Let them know that you prefer to approach your business using strategies more in line with your interests and strengths. If they have an issue with it, it’s THEIR problem.
Only being in this industry 2 years, we’ve tried to build this business in many different ways… home meetings, cold market prospecting, calling up friends & family, Facebook posts, etc. We would drive hours to work with team members, sleeping in a tent or in our car in some cases.
The whole reason we decided to try Attraction Marketing in the first place was because we were sick and tired of leaving our 2 little boys day after day in chase of another coin operated person that was NOT INTERESTED in what we had to offer. Dead end lead after dead end lead. Making an appointment 4 or 5 hours away, just to get there and be stood up, thousands of miles put on our car, in chase of people that didn’t know what it took to build this business, and weren’t committed to the process… WE HAD HAD ENOUGH! What it comes down to is it doesn’t matter what your upline thinks. All that matters is that…
a) You make money, (in a moral and ethical way)
b) You are getting closer to accomplishing whatever goals you have in your business
c) You help others do the same.
Here’s essentially what you need to make attraction marketing work, in the same way countless 6-figure and 7-figure earners have learned:
Step 1: Find the best target market
The best target market for us to go after, consists of people who have already said YES to a home business.
In fact, on a daily basis we have networkers, affiliate marketers and internet marketers voluntarily sending us their contact information, showing interest in our business.
This is possible because instead of pitching our opportunity to them, we focus our efforts on solving THEIR problems and addressing their needs.
Step 2: Demonstrate value
We never chase people or try to convince people to join our business. Instead, we attract by demonstrating value and leadership through effective marketing.
The trick here is to position what you offer as valuable, in a way that no one else does.
Step 3: Create websites & emails that sell for you
We do NOT cold call people and pitch them our opportunity. In fact, we have setup simple websites and automated email systems that actually do the selling for us.
The only way we’re getting on the phone with anyone is if they’re already a member of our team, they want to buy something from us, or they want to join our business.
Step 4: Brand Yourself
Our network marketing business is just a vehicle, but not our TRUE business.
Our email list is becoming an online distribution channel, which is bringing us stability and growth.
Step 5: People who say “no” are awesome!
When what you’ve created can influence the direction of an industry, not only can you build a downline, not only can you build a financial legacy… you can be a FORCE other leaders want to attach themselves to.
By focusing on solving problems and adding value to an industry, we attract literally 10-20 networkers per day to our list, and this number is continuing to grow daily.
If you are like us and prefer to actually BE HOME while building your home business and do it in a way, which generates prospects and customers for your business, while you are sleeping, eating or out with friends… then you owe it to yourself to check it out.
Even after all this, the techniques you’ll be exposed to is a way which has been adopted by many of the industry’s newest 7-figure producers. It might be for you or it might not, but what do you have to lose in checking it out?
