4 Tips To Grow Your Confidence In Network Marketing
First starting out in this business I was anything but confident.
Whit seemed to get it right away… He wasn’t afraid of what people thought about him and he’d invite anyone to look at our opportunity, whether we knew them or not.
Whereas, I struggled.
You see, I had a problem with the industry. My dad had been involved in a couple network marketing companies growing up, and it never worked out for him.
Then I saw friends dabble their feet in the industry and fail miserably, spending a bunch of money on products they were never going to be able to sell, only to give up and quit a month later.
Then to top it off, my Facebook was out of control with people spamming their products and links across my news feed and in private messages almost begging people to buy their stuff.
You could say I had no faith in the industry! LOL
I’m sure you’re thinking to yourself, if you had a problem with the industry, and had no faith in network marketing, then why did you jump in?
To be frank, I had faith in myself. I also had a burning desire to change our situation. Moving into my parent’s basement was not an easy thing for Whit and I to do. It was a HUGE blow to our pride.
But, I was shown residual income for the first time in my life, and it completely changed my life and my way of thinking. I was willing to do anything (so long as it was in line with my morals, ethics, and values) to have that residual income and make money while I slept!
There are four tips I have personally implemented in growing my confidence in this business. Because I’ve focused on these 4 things for the past 3 years, I’m unstoppable in this industry. Nobody can bring me down!
The first thing Whit and I did when we decided to hop into network marketing was commit to learning. I truly believe education is the gateway to success.
You have to learn in order to grow and you need to grow in order to stretch yourself and your business to new heights.
Your business will only ever be as big as the leader you are.
So I’ve focused on myself, diving into different books, audio trainings, attending events, and investing in mentorship.
I have many mentors in this industry that have what I want. In following what they do, it only makes sense I’ll get what they have. Some of these mentors I’ve never met, while others I’ve had the privilege of working along side of.
Tip #2- Sharpen Your Skill Set
There were plenty of things I downright sucked at in the beginning! Inviting being a big one.
I knew this was a skill I needed to develop in order to become a top earner in the industry, though. So I made it a point to push past my comfort zone and start inviting as many people as I could, no matter how scared I was.
After the first 20 or so invites, things started to become easier. I paid attention to what I was saying and what worked, as well as what didn’t work.
I’m now a pretty dang good inviter 2.5 years later. But it hasn’t come without practice.
There are plenty of other skills you need to make sure you’re sharpening on a consistent basis. These include:
- List building
- Following up
- Overcoming objections
Remember it will take practice. Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither will your business.
Sharpening your skill set will take work, passion and desire. But it’s all worth it when you finally can call yourself a master closer or a professional presenter, or know exactly how to overcome any objection that comes your way.
Tip #3- Reprogram Your Mind
Entrepreneurs think differently than other people. Growth and contribution bring them happiness. They’re willing to sacrifice now, to have all that they want later.
Reprogramming your mind is not an easy task. It was really hard for me to get out of the employee mindset of trading time for money. But, I was willing to be patient and do whatever it took to have the freedom lifestyle we desired.
A mentor of mine told me I had to focus on 2 things in order to detox my mind:
Feeding my mind with positive and guarding my mind from negative.
A few months ago I really took this to heart and made a commitment to myself to be more positive and to try and find the good in all things.
It’s amazing how differently I look at life because of that commitment to myself. My life is far from perfect, and our business isn’t where we want it to be yet. But I’m happy. I wake up happy and the people I’m attracting into our business are just as happy as I am.
Until we change, nothing will change. Every morning stand in front of the mirror and tell yourself I AM WORTHY – I AM DESERVING – I AM CAPABLE.
If you say these things long enough, you’ll start to believe it! 🙂
Tip #4- Reasons/find your why.
First starting out, I really didn’t understand the purpose of a “why”. When our enroller asked us what we wanted out of this business, I simply thought I wanted to make a lot of money to retire my husband and not have to work for other people ever again.
Oh how little did I know my own why.
Over this network marketing journey, our why has become a massive force to be reckoned with. It’s about so much more than money. (Though money is a huge perk.)
We had to dig deep and find it. It took us 6 months to enroll our first rep. If we didn’t have a burning desire to change our lives and help other people do the same, we would have quit.
Our word was really tested. It’s a good thing we’re stubborn and do what we say we’re going to do, because 2 years later our lives have completely changed.
So ask yourself why am I doing this? You need to create a strategy that will keep you accountable.
What are you willing to give up to make this work? Sadly this business takes sacrifice, but nothing worth having is meant to be easy.
Are you willing to give up:
- Bad Habits
- Maybe even a little time with your family now, to have all the time in the world with them later.
Who are you willing to associate with? Are the people you hang around people that support you and build you up? Or are you hanging around people that drag you down?
Remember, you are the top 5 people you hang around. So pick your friends wisely. Some of our best friends have been made in this business and here in our online community. We love connecting with like minded people.
I know if you commit to implementing these 4 tips in your business, you will see a huge difference in your business.
People want to work with confident people. People that know without a doubt where they’re going and how they’re going to get there.
