3 Mindset Gaps Holding You Back From Success In Your Network Marketing Business
Accumulating to over 24 hours of hardcore training, earners bringing in 6, 7, and even 8 figures a month were teaching us how they do it and what it takes to get where they are.
(I’ve got to add these are some of the most down to earth and humble people I’ve ever met.)
But it got me thinking…
What do they have in this industry that others don’t and how are they able to bring in this kind of money with ease while others struggle to even make a check?
What holds people back from being the person at the front of the room on stage teaching and making all the money, instead of someone in the audience, frantically taking notes so they can head home and attempt to apply what they’ve learned to their business, only for their business to stand still?
While sitting and listening to a specific mentor of ours that went from dead broke while having his girlfriend pay his utility bills, to a $50,000 residual check less than 6 months later, I had an epiphany of sorts as to what holds people back from the success they’re working so hard to achieve.
I’ve discovered it boils down to mindset! (I’m sure you’ve heard this a lot, but I’m going to bring you a different perspective.)
I realized sitting there in my chair, being one of these people that frantically take notes, that there are 3 mindset gaps holding people back from success in this industry. But, luckily, with recognition and proper coaching, these mindset gaps can easily be resolved if you know how to address them and move forward…
Mindset Gap #1- Thinking success is automatic
A lot of people seem to think success is easy to obtain if they “work hard”. They go out and work really hard for a while and think they “deserve success” so it’s automatically going to show up…
When the success doesn’t show up right away, they start to get discouraged or think they’re doing something wrong and lose focus.
I hate to break it to you, but success isn’t going to be automatic. It’s going to take consistent work for a long period of time! But there are some ways to shorten the timeline. (I’ll get to that in a minute.)
Here are some ways to address this issue:
- Make your own leads.
- Stay consistent in your business.
- Stop bottom feeding and start qualifying people to work with you. (Success comes faster when you’re working with people of the same mindset.)
- Start investing in yourself by attending events, reading books, subscribing to free trainings, etc.
And that brings us into our next gap…
Mindset Gap #2- Focus on what your market needs and start solving problems.
People spend so much time branding the companies they are with that they forget a major factor to building their businesses…
People don’t join you because of your product or your company. They join you because of YOU. They join you because they look to you as a leader that can effectively guide them where they want to go.
So if you aren’t successfully branding yourself as a leader in the industry, you’re going to continue getting mediocre results.
Here are some ways to do this:
- Be the education provider. People are hungry for education in their own markets. If you’re the one providing them that education, they look to you as an expert.
- Content is king. Your content and the value you bring to people is going to take you further than luck or looks. So if you’re going to do this, to be frank, your content has to kick ass!

In talking to these top earners in San Diego, they each said the same thing – You ARE the amount of VALUE you bring to the marketplace. Personal development needs to be the #1 priority in your business if you want your business to grow.
Mindset Gap #3- Think differently – Think Bigger!
The world of network marketing is changing. With millennials being the dominant generation, the ways of prospecting and recruiting are moving in a different direction.
Millennials are social media hungry! They would rather text than call, spend hours on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc., and they want to make money.
You need to change your thinking and adapt or you’re going to be left behind.
Here are some ways to do this:
- Get around people that think bigger. You are the top 5 people you hang around.
- Think to yourself how can I get in front of more people faster? How do I impact more people at once?
- Remember different is better than better.
- Don’t settle for decent – Be the BEST!
